Music at S.B.P.C.I.P.
The musicians would like to thank Mr. Wey Farere and the Pot-O'-Gold Winery for their generous sponsorship of the Music Program. Without their support, we would be less than nothing.
Our Music Program grew out of a group of talented amateur guys and gals put together by O'Connor and Stanford.
At first, they traded off leading the Choir and what passed for a Praise Band but they were eventually replaced by McNamara.
Now, when the drums go bang, the cymbals clang, the horns will blaze away, MacCarthy puffs the old bassoon while Doyle the pipes will play. Hennessy Tennessy tootles the flute and the music is something grand; a credit to old Saints Be Praised is McNamara's Band!
Fortunately for us, one of the parishoners who plays the piano was looking for a good home for her mother's harmonium, which is often referred to as a pump organ. She plays some of the hymns on it and sings lead soprano in the Choir. Some of our other talented parishoners also help out with the hymn-playing duties, add their God-inspired music to that of the band, or raise their voices in song as members of the Choir .
If you can sing, play a musical instrument, or both, feel free to join in, as the musicians get first crack at the extra copies of the Bulletin.
